The Ardnamurchan Distillery opened in July 2014 to begin the process of producing what will eventually become world-class single malt.
The Ardnamurchan peninsula is a wonderfully remote “finger” of rocky land that stretches out to the furthest westerly point of the UK, just to the north of the Isle of Mull, and south of the Isle of Skye.It is accessed initially by a small ferry, and then by a narrow and twisty single track road.
It’s famous for its outstanding and untouched beauty and abundance of natural resources.
The Ardnamurchan Distillery is situated half way along the peninsula in the small village of Glenbeg.
It was designed to both look like a distillery, and also fit in with the surrounding buildings.

1 of only 568 bottles from Refill Sherry Cask
Drawn from an active, 1st fill Spanish oak ex-Sherry Butt. A deep amber/polished mahogany colour, with good beading. Mellow nose feel, not as dry as its predecessor. Bruised apple, tinned pear, and burnt caramel – toffee apple? Oloroso sherry, sweet tobacco, so leather. Develops into vanilla toffee (Werthers Originals; Chocolate Eclairs) with a drop of water. A sweet, burnt toffee taste, then immediately bitter saccharine. Water introduces chocolate and cocoa powder, reduces the other tastes and gives a light menthol aftertaste.
12-Year-Old Island
1 of only 347 bottles
From a refill ex-Oloroso hogshead, this has a lovely bronze colour with a moderate bead. On the nose is a decadent aroma of salted honeycomb, Dulce de leche, bog myrtle and tinned pineapple. The palate develops with crunchie bars, dried hay, bitter lemon and a peaty hearth with integrated peat smoke. Finishing peppery.
12-Year-Old Highland
1 of only 556 bottles
Drawn from a 1stfill ex-PX Sherry butt, this has the colour of an old grand piano. Straight away the nose delivers oodles of McCowan’s Highland Toffee, in the background there are prunes, cloves, Christmas mince pies and a savoury element of bread sauce.
The palate brings Scottish tablet, star anise, brandy snaps, mulled wine, stewed fruits and Parma violets. The finish is long, lingering and slightly drying.
This bottling is a 2007 Adelphi Miltonduff bottled in 2019 by Adelphi. As with all single cask bottlings from Adelphi, this is bottled at natural cask strength, unchill-filtered and free from any colouring. It was matured for 11 years in refill American oak hogshead that has previously held oloroso and bottled at a mouthwatering 62.1%.

The E&K blended malt is a tribute to Victor Alexander Bruce, the 9th Earl of Elgin and 13th Earl of Kincardine, who became Viceroy of India in 1894. As Governor of India from 1894 to 1899, Bruce oversaw improvements to India’s railway system, worked to combat drought and famine and helped stabilise the currency. There's also a personal connection to the historical reference: Bruce is the Great Grandfather of Alex Bruce, Adelphi's Managing Director.
The E&K 5-Year-Old is a blended malt whisky from Adelphi's Fusion Whisky range, combining single malts from Scotland and India. The whiskies used for this expression came from Ardmore, Glenrothes and Amrut, and were aged for at least five years before bottling.
